Join us for this luxury escorted tour of Tasmania, with two-night stays in five iconic locations.
Starting in Hobart, we will explore Bruny Island with a classic Tasmanian Adventure – journeying down the Derwent River, through the D’Antrecasteaux channel, skirting Bruny Island’s West coast from top to tail (with plenty of fresh local seafood of course!). From Hobart we will drive through the scenic West coast region, stopping along the way, to Strahan and a Gordon River cruise.
Travelling North from Strahan we will cross over the Alpine Plateau to Cradle Mountain and Launceston, taking in the boundless wilderness of Tasmania’s rugged West. We then follow the Tamar River to the North coast of the island to enjoy wine and food at some of the regions famous vineyards.
Following the coastline, we’ll travel South to Freycinet, enjoying a Wineglass Bay cruise, with stunning views of Freycinet National Park, Hazards Range and the stunning granite coastline.
We’ll end our tour back in Hobart where you will experience the world-renowned Museum of Old & New Art …travelling in Posh Pit style.
Itinerary at a Glance
Day 1: Wed 19 May – Hobart (2 nights) D
Arrival and transfer to hotel. Time to freshen up before enjoying dinner at the Old Wharf Restaurant our hotel. Accommodation : MACq 01
Day 2: Thu 20 May – Hobart. B, L
Bruny Island Tasmanian Seafood Experience. A classic Tasmanian adventure, you’ll meet two specialist local guides on a purpose-built charter vessel, journeying from Hobart down the Derwent river through the D’Antrecasteaux Channel, skirting Bruny Island’s West Coast from top to tail. Enjoy a range of fresh Tasmanian seafood.
Free evening to explore Hobart’s vibrant dining culture.
Day 3: Fri 21 May – Hobart to Strahan (2 nights).B, D
Today will be a scenic day of driving through incredible region scenery with many stops along the way, including Mount Field National Park, Russell Falls and the Wall in the Wilderness at Derwent Bridge. If the weather’s good, your host will arrange a walk with picnic morning tea. Lunch on the shores of Lake St Clair. Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
Day 4: Sat 22 May – Strahan & Gordon River. B, L
Spend the day discovering the stunning, boundless wilderness of Tasmania’s rugged West on a Gordon River Cruise aboard the Spirit of the Wild, with a knowledgable guide to outline the history. Free afternoon and evening in town
Day 5: Sun 23 May – Strahan to Launceston via Cradle Mt (2 nights). B, D
Travel north of Strahan along the wild west coast and over the Alpine Plateau to Cradle Mountain, passing through old mining towns including Tullah and Zeehan, exploring landscapes nearly untouched by modern civilisation.
Enjoy a delicious dinner at Geronimo Apertivo. Accommodation at Peppers Silo.
Day 6: Mon 24 May – Tamar Valley. B, L
The Tamar Valley follows the Tamar River from Launceston to the north coast of the island. Head out from Launceston around 10am for a day dedicated to the fine wood and produce the region (and Tasmania) is famous for. Enjoy farm fresh cheese and chocolate direct from the farm gate, fresh berries. Relaxed, elegant lunch overlooking the vines at one of our favourite local vineyards – Josef Chromy. Enjoy a free evening to explore Launceston.
Day 7: Tue 25 May – Launceston to Freycinet via Bay of Fires (2 nights). B, D
Today is a scenic journey through Tasmania’s East. Bridestowe Lavender Estate, Bay of Fires from Binalong Bay to the summit of Mt William. On the drive south to Freycinet you’ll follow the coast all the way along with stunning views all the way along. Depending on how the day unfolds, you may arrive into Freycinet in time for dinner or stop along the way in Bicheno for a classic feed at the Lobster Shack – an icon of the central east known for its fresh crayfish. Enjoy a 2-course set menu at the lodge. Overnight at Freycinet Lodge (2 nights)
Day 8: Wed 26 May – Wineglass Bay Cruise. B, L, D
A short drive to board your vessel for your Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay Cruise in the Sky Lounge. The adults only lounge provides an intimate experience with direct access to the Captains Bridge and private viewing deck. Dinner at the Lodge
Day 9: Thu 27 May – Freycinet to Hobart (2 nights). B
Today we return to Hobart for a full day of exploring in the surrounding region, and head down towards Swansea on the hunt for the region’s best farm gate produce and vineyard wine. Overnight Accommodation: Crowne Plaza
Day 10: Fri 28 May – Hobart & MONA. B, L, D
Museum of Old & New Art via purpose-built, character-filled ferry, travelling in the Posh Pit VIP cabin and enjoying sparkling wine and canapés with views of the Hobart riverfront. Lunch on-site at The Source restaurant. Finish your day by heading back to Hobart on the MONA ROMA ferry to enjoy dinner at Core Restaurant in your hotel.
**On arrival at MONA, there are 99-steps to climb so please let us know if that seems like a lot to you so we can make alternative arrangements
Day 11: Sat 29 May – Depart Hobart. B
A transfer will be provided to the airport after breakfast.
